Atlantic Institute Brings Neighbors Together for a Turkish Breakfast Cooking Class
On September 12, 2026, Atlantic Institute hosted a Traditional Turkish Breakfast Cooking Class at Istanbul Center in Jacksonville. The event invited guests to explore Turkish food and culture while getting to know one another.
Participants made menemen, a Turkish breakfast dish with eggs, tomatoes, and peppers. They also learned how to brew traditional Turkish tea and practiced saying merhaba—“hello” in Turkish.
After cooking, everyone gathered around the table to enjoy the breakfast they had prepared. Over tea and conversation, guests shared stories, asked questions, and made new connections. The class offered a welcoming way to experience a tradition that is about more than food: taking time to sit together and enjoy one another’s company.
For Atlantic Institute, sharing cultural traditions is one way to bring people from different backgrounds together. Preparing breakfast side by side created a natural setting for learning, conversation, and friendship.
We thank everyone who joined us and helped make the morning so warm and welcoming. We look forward to future opportunities to cook, learn, and connect.
